Hand rips are not fun. They take days of healing and can be longer if your hands get too dry and then start to crack. A good way to prevent this is to keep your calluses sanded down. You can use a callus remover to smooth them out. You don’t want to make them completely go away, the callus needs to be smooth and low. This will help from the callus bunching up and ripping off.
There are a couple of things you can do to help prevent from rips. Gymnastic wraps are a good way to go. When you first get them they may feel a little thick and be hard to hang on the bar with but if you work them in and thin them out a bit they work great.

You can also do a homemade version of these and reuse them a couple of times.
